Anyone have experience with installing the oversize roller service kit for
Cessna's from McFarlane?

Our tracks have a little ways to go before the .6035 wear limit but the wear
is not even. We are getting some skin wear between the flaps and wing. Would
these rollers be a viable alternative to new flap tracks, at least for a
couple years?

(Answers from those who have actually used or installed these please. I can
guess as well as the next fellow.)

Oh, they are not oversized, just a direct replacement for the Cessna ones
but they take out any additional slop caused by bearing and roller wear.

I had these parts installed early this year while having my Skylane
painted. No new tracks were needed, just the rollers and related parts
(can't remember exactly what the kit included... some washers, perhaps
bushings?)

The tracks were within the spec set forth in the applicable SB, and
the mechanic was able to smooth out the uneven wear with emery cloth.

I've also purchased a vernier mixture control cable from McFarlane,
very good quality and very friendly folks.

McFarlane's aft rollers are narrower to allow use of the stainless
washer on either side of the roller to stop the roller edge from
eating into the flap arms. If the damage gets deep enough, the flap
may fail and jam in the tracks. McFarlane sells stainless washers for
the front rollers already.
We have seen this damage on airplanes with less than 2000 hours
total time. Cessna has a Service Bulletin out on it.
