Yup!
My father, who knew Bong quite well said he should have stuck to what
he was really good at, that was a gunnery instructer.
He got most of the Fifth AF P-38 pilots to perfect head on passes with
early engagement and disengagement before the Japanese fighters were
close enough to engage accurately. There was a advantage to having that
cluster of guns in the nose.
