Is the VAT. Get rid of income tax and implement the VAT, invented by
the French-whose population believes tax avoidance is morally right and
proper and therefore must be taxed in an avoidanceproof manner-and we
all will benefit.

We had a French sales guy who ended up with over $8million (U.S.) in
commission one year. He fled to Mexico for 3 years. Apparently, in
France if you can avoid paying income tax for 3 years, you're home
free.

In America, there is a general moral sense that not paying tax you are
legally required to is wrong. Both among liberals and conservatives.
Now most people in a convenient position to do it , do cheat somewhat,
but for the most part it is a looked-down-on thing. In France it isn't.

The VAT properly implemented would have 2% of the collection costs of
the income tax and would be properly progressive.
