Black Hawk crash-lands near Taegu

YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — A U.S Army Black Hawk helicopter
crash-landed in a river Thursday night after hitting a wire near
Taegu, an Army spokesman said Friday.
The four soldiers aboard were not injured, said Lt. Col. Steve Boylan,
8th Army public affairs officer. The helicopter, of the 377th Air
Ambulance Company, 18th Medical Command, went down at about 9:15 p.m.
in the Hoecheon River near the town of Goryeong, Boylan said.
The soldiers were waiting on top of the aircraft when rescue personnel
from the Korean National Police and military police at Camp Walker
arrived, Boylan said.
About one-third of the helicopter was submerged, said Lee Chin-ho,
communications officer at Songju Fire Department.
Six vehicles and 17 firefighters responded, Lee said.
The helicopter was on a routine training mission, Boylan said. It is
