My family and I are going to spend a weekend in Mulege in Feburary. My
wife usually enjoys spending one say in the town of Mulege. I'm
thinking that there must be a better town to enjoy and was wonder what
people thought of La Paz. I've heard its more commercial. It would be
nice to go somewhere with a nice beach and a nice town. We may also
stop in Alphonsinas (great beach, but no town).

Thanks!

I've heard some are going to Punta Pescadero instead. Anyone have any
opinoins of that?

Haven't been south in quite a while. Was flying corporate and made over
300 trips to La Paz and Cabo with visits to other places along the way.
La Paz is just another large Mexican town. Has no beach to boast of,
the harbor is just about unswimmable.(IMO). The Pacific side has so
much wave action its dangerous a lot of the time.
Punta Pescadero is nice but not much there except the village and lots
of fishing activities. Ventana on the east coast over from LaPaz was
nice but don't know if the hotel is open anymore. Was very popular with
wind surfers. The airstrip was a piece of cake for our turboprop but no
services.
There is always Loreto or San Jose Del Cabo, and of course Cabo San
Lucas. Not sure the condition of the strip at Todos Santos now but it
is a quiet sleepy village on the Pacific side nearly due south of LAP.
No services there either but its close to both Cabo and LAP.
Baja Bush Pilots is a good organization to join or to turn to for
current information.
Have fun and a margarita for me!!

La Paz: big ugly city (though I'm not much into cities).
Todos Santos: beautiful small town with outstanding and inexpensive
dining opportunities. Also nice beaches nearby, though maybe not
walking distance.
