I found this interesting crop design near Lebanon, OH. (between Cincinnati
and Dayton). I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to create
this.

Here's a little more detail. Basically they just hold a handheld GPS
and "follow the lines"

Well, I'm always amaized that farmers, who constantly whine about going
broke, have the time and energy for this...

I read that a farmer that had done one of these maze/pictures, made more
money, MANY times over, selling admissions instead of selling the crop.
Sly like a fox, getting the masses paying to see mowed down crops. <g>

No, they CHARGE people $6 Bucks a head, and $5 bucks for kids over 4 to
come and negotiate the maze. The most amazing part of it is, people
come BY THE THOUSANDS!
I guess pilots get the last laugh, they get the best view for free
<well, still a $100 corm maze run I guess <grin>)
Actually, that probably wouldn't be a bad idea eh?
A large map of affiliated mazes is at
http://www.cornfieldmaze.com/site_list.html
anyone selling siteseeing flights should probably take note at least.

AOPA did an article on these a few months back. They're actually very
easy to do, they are planted that way.

You're right, when they aren't whining about going broke they are
whining because it is too dry, or too wet, or diesel costs too much...

Here, the county board (or was it the state?) has implemented a permit
system for farmers who want corn mazes, farm breakfasts, hayrides, etc.
They claim its so that emergency services know where these events are
going on, which is pretty stupid, considering that 911 tracks calls
(Cell phones soon). Its just another excuse to tax farmers trying to
make a buck.

Well not entirely......only a few farmers whine about things and the ones
whinning are not doing stuff like this. I know, I grew up on a farm and
although there is a risk each year and some years are better than others,
for the most part it all evens out somehow.

Andrew, he has been doing something different each of the last three
years since I first noticed them. Check and see what he does with this
year's crop.

Hmmm, and here I was raised on a farm... I own a farm... I get farm
subsidy payments <yessss! :>... And a significant portion of the people
I deal with every day are involved with farming...
Gosh, I guess I was just to slow to learn anything all these years...
Thanks for pointing that out, Pete...
And, Gary hits the nail on the head...
