View Full Version : That expensive Anniversary

It is my tenth anniversary owning an airplane. It has been an expensive one.
In the last year.... I have installed a new HSI(old one just kept
spinning), Re-built both magnetos, replaced my fuel pump, replaced the
Oil filter adapter, (that's everything on the accessory case!) replaced
my Attitude indicator and my engine preheater died. Now my GPS screen
went blank on the way work this morning. The unit continued sending out
position info to the HSI, but absolutely nothing on the display. Cost to
repair? About 1 AMU and 4 weeks. I think I found a shop willing to loan
me one while mine is being repaired.
So I am beginning to feel like I am married to a high maintanence man. ;-)
Hopefully she will be good for another ten years.

LOL (<-- really)!
"Sounds to me like you're still doing better than an engagement ring"
was my thought.....And the plane will carry YOUR baggage, you don't
have to carry it's.
Hope you have a safe and healthy relationship that lasts a loooong
time.

I think I found the problem ma'am. Your plane is a "she".
Going through a lot of money is she? Yup, that's pretty common. I believe
they call it Shopping Syndrome by Proxy - your plane breaks so you will have
to go out and shop for parts for it. No cure really.

Yup... Like having a crack habit... Except it leaves you physically and
mentally capable of working to get more AMU's without having to resort
to stealing TV's... And when you have two engines sucking up AMU's it
gets to be even more fun...
