View Full Version : 4th Annual Pre-Oshkosh Fly-In Pool Party!

July 8th 06, 11:12 PM
You're invited to our Fourth Annual Pre-Oshkosh Fly-In Pool Party!

This party, held every summer since we opened in 2002, is our way of
saying "Thanks!" to the aviation community for another good year.
We'll be
serving burgers, brats, hot dogs, side dishes, pop, wine and beer, all
at
poolside, starting at 5 PM. Spend an hour -- or spend the night!

Then, the next morning (not tooooo early!) traditionally several of us
will
depart Iowa City (KIOW) for Oshkosh, flying up to Airventure in a loose

gaggle. This assures that the party will continue up there -- please
feel free
to join us!

Here are the particulars:

Where: Alexis Park Inn & Suites pool
1165 S Riverside Dr. (next to KIOW's Rwy 25)
Iowa City, IA
When: Saturday, July 22, 2006
Time: 5 PM -- ???

We are located just 90 minutes Southwest of Oshkosh, making us the
perfect stop over before tackling the famous Oshkosh Arrival Procedure.
Speaking as someone who has flown into OSH numerous times, you do NOT
want hit Ripon worn out at the end of a long cross-country flight!
Join us instead for a relaxing poolside party, and then fly in Sunday
morning refreshed and ready to go.

For more information, feel free to call us, toll free, at 888-925-3947
(888-9ALEXIS) We hope to see you soon!

Blue skies...

What? No invitation to have a beer on the way to Oshkosh this year?

I mean, I guess it's implied, but still...I don't see it spelled out in this
year's invite.

this year Jay will present you his political views on North Korea and the
world as a whole. Maybe beer is a must to bear all that.

Did you ever realize how much text fits in eighty columns? If you now consider
that a signature usually consists of up to four lines, this gives you enough
space to spread a tremendous amount of information with your messages. So seize
this opportunity and don't waste your signature with bull**** nobody will read.

Hmmm. Doesn't this say it all?:

"We'll be serving burgers, brats, hot dogs, side dishes, pop, wine and
beer, all
at poolside, starting at 5 PM. Spend an hour -- or spend the night!"

I thought the "wine and beer" part was stated pretty blatantly -- but,
if you insist, here you go:

************************************************** ******************************
STOP IN IOWA CITY ON YOUR WAY TO OSHKOSH FOR FREE BEER!
************************************************** ******************************

There, better? (That tremor you just felt was Larry twitching. :-)

(BTW: We'll let you drive our courtesy van, go swimming without a
life-guard, and run with scissors on the stairs, too, if you'd really
like...)

:-)

Good God, man, I'll drink your beer, swim in your pool, run with scissors,
but ride in that van?

Have you no shame?

My point is that we don't mix politics and partying, at least not at my
establishment.

We *do*, however, usually drink a toast to you, Marty! If you didn't
really exist, we'd have to invent you...

He lives in Europe. They are required to have a sour attitude about life.

The couple of times I've visited Jay our discussions have been mostly
aviation-related and haven't spilled into the contenious OT areas.
