View Full Version : AOPA phone survey?
Just got off the phone. They called earlier this week & I suggested
they call back (they did).
Anybody else done one recently?

I had an automated call from an AOPA Air Safety Foundation. When I hung up
on the machine a human called me back 10 minutes later.

I got a call a few weeks ago. Asked me for money. I told them I pay
for recurrent training. If they could get me my money back in insurance
reductions, then i would donate to their safety courses. I feel I pay
enough for my own safety - don;t need to spend more for something that
does not get me much. Some pilots don't give a hoot. Why should I
subsidize other people's training/education? I already do that by force
from my government with the local school taxes.

I don't recall. I only got one call. I told them i would check out
their online safety courses and if I thought they were worth it I would
pay/donate. I prefer to go for my own training rather than listen to
some "safety seminar." I have been to a number of wings and other FAA
programs. All have been a waste of time.

If it's through the Air Safety Foundation it's well worth the money.
The ABS uses them and they have a whale of a safety course. runs a
whole week end with 10 hours of class room and 4 to 5 hours flying.
Counts for a BFR, one phase of the wings program, and an IPC. I'm
missing something as it should be four things.
The ASF does a lot of education and they just might keep some one from
running into you.

If they ever have one near me and I attend i will be glad to donate.
However, they don;t seem to get around to my location/near me...

Just an aside...
During working hours all phone calls are answered by my staff... They
do not pass on calls like that unless I have told them I'm expecting
it...
Outside of the office I have a pocket phone... I don't answer any
phone calls from numbers I don't recognize - and some numbers I do...
We do not have a traditional phone in the house, only our pocket
phones...
As a result I do not get the meal time scammers trying to sell us
something...
In fact I don't get many phone calls at all... Priceless!
If you want to do business with me, mail your sales pitch with a
return address and business phone and I will consider it - usually for
roughly 3 milliseconds...
