I'm looking for a wav file for my blackberry of the chirp of an
airplane landing gear setting down. I can find several clips out
there of planes landing but the chirp is surrounded by other sounds --
most of them are full landing clips. I'd like just the chirp (to use
as a notifier tone for voicemail, etc). Does anyone know of one
that's cleaned up and just has the tire chirp?

Just record the sounds on your phone at annual during the retraction
test. Of course all you hear is a bunch of gears moving.

Do you have FSX? What you could do is to completely shut off the
engines in midair, deploy the undercarriage, and record the sound.

I'm guessing a recording of your voice going "ERT" would not sound
substantially different on a cell phone than a professionally recorded
sfx.

Next time you go flying, record a few on a cheap digital recorder located
just inside an open window or vent.

....this is going to be the most interesting NTSB report to read in
a while... (with sound effects no less :-)

Huh? Recording a toy flight simulator making a dead stick landing is
going to cause a crash?

Only in Mx's definition would that be anything but a non-situation. <g>
