September 30th 08, 09:13 PM
Today I marked the 50th anniversary of my first solo flight
with a solo flight flight from Pilot Country Airport (X05)
to Zephyrhills (ZPH) in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.

My first solo occured out of NAS Saufley Field as a Naval
Aviation Cadet in T-34B BUNO 144098, Sept 1958. Today's
flight was in a friend's 1959 C-172 REG N7000T.

In between the two, I have logged over 22,000 hours of flight
time, 9.5 years US Navy, 25 years Airline, and about 7 years
Civilian Flight Instructing.

Congrats to you captian,,,, I too have spend alot of time flying the
same wonderful skies you enjoy. Altho I am a few years behind ya.
Learned to fly at X04, practically wore out 5416M at Bob White field
getting my soft field tricks mastered. Bought my first plane, 4341X
when I had 1.2 hours in my log book. Took my check ride out of X04.
Spent alot of time over at Kimballs in Zellwood, River Ranch for
sunday buffet, Ceder Key for sea food and the ride to town in Edna'a
station wagon was a hoot. Back then my favorite flight was a trip to
the coast for every night launch, then back to MCO, landing on 18r and
a shuttle ride to the terminal for some prime rib at the food area....
Those were good times for sure. Have fun flying partner.

Ben.
