Many years ago (1989 I think), I got to fly in the backseat with one of them
during a practice as Villa Franca Airbase in Italy during a USAF deployment
I was participating in.
I'm not sure which was more terrifying, the crazy ass manner in which they
flew, or the fact that the pilot I was flying with had two glasses of wine
in the Officers Club when we had lunch together prior to our flight.....
It was, however, a flight I will never forget.

Two glasses of wine at lunch do not change the way you fly or drive if you
got accustomed to drink good wine at meals since you were two....
ciao

You got a flight in one of the Frecce Tricolori jets!? Awesome. On the other
hand, this is akin to going for a ride with one of the "test pilots" from
Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Maserati. Many a grizzled journalist has ummm....
lost his cookies. If you've driven at all in Italy or Germany, you know they
have a different regard for speed and taking chances on the road than we do
and their roads and drivers are on the whole better than ours. Still, people
that drive like that are bound to fly with even more bravado and chutzpa!

Did you get some great shots? Video? That must have been a very memorable
experience!

Unfortunately no pics or video.... Many years ago and totally unexpted.
we had deployed with our own jets to their airfield for a NATO excercise...
didn't even
know they were there will we arrived. Met them at their O'Club and was
offered a ride.
It was unfortunate that our jet didn't have a second seat (No two seat
models made) so we
could reciprocate... Fun ride but a bit scary... nothing seemed to be
scripted and they did things
in a Jet I thought, at the time, could only be done in a prop plane...
