Looks a lot like Shastina, the large satellite cone on n California's
Mt. Shasta... Downside is, if that's true, the Crusader is about to
hit the main mountain. It's also carrying tailcodes for the other
coast.

I agree with your location assessment. (You can see Black Butte in the background)
You can tell this was taken with a high power telephoto lens due to the space compression between Shastina and Black Butte. This compression also applies to the Crusader and Shasta as he flies past on the east side.

Makes sense. I've only seen Shasta once, but the beauty impressed.
And an unrelated Crusader from the same unit to keep the topic within
spitting distance. And speaking of distantly related, The Museum of
Flight is also restoring the very first XF8U-1 Crusader.
By my reckoning, my brain has now wandered to someplace near Dave's
house in Oz. Would you be so kind as to slap on a stamp and drop it
in the nearest postbox? Thanks!
