A couple of pictures (one big, one small) of a JASDF F-15 which made a
sub-optimal landing at Komatsu a couple of days ago (Friday).

Reportedly no casualties although Japan's F-15s have been grounded except for
emergency operations and Komatsu Airport was shut for about 4 hours.

What's that stuff on the back that looks like cardboard and pink duct tape?

Perhaps it's cardboard and duct tape. It was a landing accident and that
stuff is covering the area of the air brake. I would assume there is some
connection.

Or maybe JASDF maintenance standards aren't what they should be.

I would suspect its a "DO NOT WAlK HERE" warning to the crane/recovery
crewmen. since it covers the air/dive brake location.

danger/unsafe,,, no-step ETC:

Gear up. Gear down. Gear up.

I can see how once in a while you would forget. There should be an idiot
light for that.
