My credit union says they will finance 80% of the appraised value of
an aircraft. The question is, who appraises gliders? I'm in the
Dallas area if anyone knows someone. Thanks!

Banks don't have the resources to go find an expert usually so they
will go with any documentation that gives them a good feeling. One
option would be to show them the most recent insurance policy. They
could go off of the amount insured as 100%. I have also seen where
any A&P who does annuals for gliders can write a simple letter stating
what he thinks the value is. You can help him to give the correct
value. The good news is that I have seen banks willing to loan on
gliders, including experimental designated gliders at least in the
USA.

Good luck,

When I worked in the banking sector, we had a designation for certain
appraisals, "AACI", - Appraised According to Client Instructions.
Your A&P will probably supply such a guesstimate if you hint the right
way.
