several others are actually wearing jodhpurs.

The Hurricanes are from No. 85 Squadron, but I don't know about the
Blenheim and the Gladiators. I've seen the photo before, but can't
remember where or when it was taken.

Found it in "Fighter Squadron At War".

It shows a visit to No. 85 by HM King George VI, the Duke of Gloucester
(one of his brothers) and Viscount Lord Gort, C-in-C of the BEF. The
location is Lille and the date is 6 December 1939.

The Gladiators are probably from No. 607 Squadron.

Well done Peter, exactly my thought when I read the comments - (1) that
the man was wearing jodphurs and, (2) if it wasn't George VI, he was a
very close relation.
