The Arizona Soaring Association will be opening its season with the
Vernal Equinox Grand Prix Race at Pleasant Valley Airport (home of
Turf Soaring) in Peoria, AZ (just NW of Phoenix) on the weekend of
March 20. Turnpoint radius will be adjusted for glider handicap. Ted
“2NO” Wagner will CD and will provide a reference to the turnpoint
file to be used on the ASA web site forum (www.asa-soaring.org) before
March 1st.

ASA will provide the core food for a bar-b-q cook-out after flying on
Saturday evening at Turf, with chicken breast, hamburgers, baked
potatoes, baked beans, braised vegetables, rolls, and brownies.
Attendees are welcome to bring any side dish they might wish to have.
BYOB.

The equivalent weekend in past years had resulted in numerous long
flights. Last year’s Grand Prix on that weekend was a blast. Grand
Prix racing is THE most fun. If you haven’t flown in one, you are
missing a great time. Simple rules, great camaraderie, FUN racing.

Visitors are welcome to come to town and get in on the fun. Arizona
has already had numerous 300k flights, and several past 400k. Sweep
the snow off your glider trailer and come on down to Phoenix to thaw
out and begin YOUR season. As southerners say, “Y’all Come!”

The only expense will be for tows from Turf Soaring. Free overnight
tie downs if you fly, and there are plenty of tie downs. Pleasant
Valley Airport offers 3 parallel and 1 X-wind runway.

Contact Ted Wagner (tedcwagner at gmail dot com) or Bob Thompson
) for any further info you might need. Please
RSVP to Bob if you plan to come, so we may have an appropriate amount
of food on hand.
