I've worked out what the aircraft are in most of these photos, but
what's going on here?

Factory shifts in the UK during WWII were often 12 hours long, and many
people worked a 7-day week. The blackout, rationing and the risk of
being bombed didn't help. Did Rosie and her friends work such long hours
in the USA as well?

I don't know what aircraft, but I would suspect that its the upper
intake ducting of a radial engine assembly, upside down for assembly.
