Former astronaut Readdy to keynote
(EXCERPT) TPS to graduate 35; top award honors McCool, by Bill Swanson

When the United States Navy Test Pilot School here presents graduation
diplomas to the 35 students of Class 124 tomorrow night at the Cedar
Point Officers' Club, one of those students will receive the school's
outstanding student award that will now honor the memory of the late
Willie McCool, the Navy commander at the stick of the space shuttle
Columbia when it broke up during reentry Feb. 1, killing all seven
crew aboard.
McCool was a 1992 graduate of the TPS, Class 101, and spent a tour
here at NAS Patuxent River as a test pilot at what is now Air Test and
Evaluation Squadron 23, then known as Strike. Presenting the award to
the school's top student will be McCool's father, Barent "Barry"
McCool, himself a retired Navy pilot and now an adjunct professor at
the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and one of McCool's children, Sean
Casper Bau...
