I am looking for an article from Soaring Magazine that discussed the
differences between new pilots and experienced pilots. It covered an
analysis of percentage of time the pilots spent flying versus flight
planning, etc.
I can't remember the title or author so any help would be
appreciated. Likely from late 80's or early 90's.

Ola Tim,
I believe the article you seek presented the findings of a French
behavioral scientist who applied his profession to his hobby- soaring.
I learned of this gentleman's work thru Gene Hammond, who presented
these findings multiple times in Soaring Safety Foundation CFI-Glider
Recertification clinics. Send me an email privately and I will provide
Gene's particulars, or perhaps you can log in to SSA's website and use
member locator if you prefer.
Safe soaring,
Bob Wander
