Have you tried the local DAR?

You can find the list of DARs here:
http://av-info.faa.gov/dst/DARDirectory.pdf
Function: 46 means they can inspect and certify amateur-built aircraft.
Even if they don't want to do the _condition inspection_, they should know
someone that will.
