How to disable PDA connections to avoid error message?

My HP5555 running Winpilot opens a pop-up error that I have to
manually close every few minutes in flight. "Unable to connect: You
have no modem entries created, and no network card present".
WP runs fine, just the error window blocking my view. GPS input is a
VL to SN10 to PDA, also working fine. I've already RTFM (96 pages),
it has many items on how to connect, but none on how 'not to connect'.
The blue tooth connection is disabled, but it's looking for a modem or
internet (?). I've tried every connection item in the menus and
settings, (except of course the one I need). Does anybody know where
to find the elusive setting? Appreciate any help, Thanks! Bruce Barnard

The problem is Winpilot, you need to remove it and replace it with
SeeYou Mobile :-)

This is almost certainly Intellisync (aka Stupidsync) trying to
connect to your PC (over a dock conenctor or a network). Kill
Intellisync on the PDA if it is running and redock you PDA and let it
fully sync. Look at all the Intellisync settings on your PC, turn off
as much stuff as you can/don't need. You can look at the Intellisync
settings on the PDA but I suggest you change the settings on the PC.
Unless you really need to set tools>options>schedule to "manual" to
avoid Intellisync running ever time you put the PDA in the dock
connected to your PC. Personally with SeeYou Mobile I just install it
on the SD card and use that for transferring flight logs etc. (since
they go to a Macintosh) and I completely avoid any Intellisync
problems.

Intellisync - didn't you?

The reason to turn off automatic sync and make it manual only is
sometimes you put the PDA in and then quickly pull it out etc. without
thinking and the poor thing gets confused trying to sync. Better to
just do this manually.

In addition to killing activesync which fixing your problem you'll
often find stuff running in the background, activesync, File Explorer,
etc. etc. One thing that seems to help overall stability, is to do a
soft reset on the whole PDA. Some people do that every now and again,
and others before each flight, it seems to help improve stability (and
it certainly clears out these background processes).

Hi Darryl, Active Sync was on manual last season. The cradle was not
plugged into the PC all winter, it was only charging because I only
use it for WP. Two weeks ago I ran the battery dead after a trip to
the airport, so I had to perform a reset to charge the battery. This
changed Active Sync to auto, but it wasn't connected to the PC so it
wanted to find Daddy. Thanks again, you saved me much frustration.
