Can anyone tell me whether one must pay property tax on a glider in Colorado? If so, how is it calculated? There was a thread on this a couple of years ago; looking for recent data. Thanks.

Hey, good to hear you're still coming back to the US! Sorry to hear
you wont be coming to live with us here, though! Maybe if I send you
another photo of our mountains? Fred

About twenty years ago then Governor Roy Romer (D), himself a GA pilot
and former FBO, was successful in shifting aircraft ownership taxes to
a state fuel tax on Jet A and AVGAS. Since your glider uses no fuel,
you will pay no aviation taxes in Colorado. However, you may pay some
tax indirectly in tow fees because of the fuel your tow plane uses.

You will pay a one time 'use tax' if you bring a glider into the
state, or a 'sales tax' if you buy one domiciled here. If you keep
the glider in an unincorporated area, the rate is 2.9%
