Lasham, Booker, Dunstable, Redhill, Parham, Ringmere, Challock, North
Weald. What sort of gliding do you want to do, and how big and
professional do you want the club to be?

No longer at North Weald. We (Essex GC) had that site from 1961, and
Ridgewell too since 1991, but finally left North Weald 1-2 years ago
as a gliding site and now are all at Ridgewell.
There may be motor gliders there, but not easy to get a ride in one
for a visitor, I suspect.

There were still some glider trailers at North Weald last time I drove
past it, earlier this year.

Derek, there are two possible reasons for the trailers at North Weald
that you saw earlier this year, to the knowledge of myself and
colleagues at my club.
We used club trailers to remove the last vestiges of our presence,
from our former maintenance workshop, early this year, long after
gliding at North Weald had ceased.
We understand that there are some microlight aircraft based at North
Weald, some of which have trailers similar to glider trailers though
probably a bit shorter.
We know of no other reason why glider trailers would have been at
North Weald recently.
