Cloudstreet Journal

To All in the Soaring Community:
The concept for a digital, interactive soaring publication featuring
national and international news and up to the minute information was
put into motion a year ago. The electronic medium offers many unique
and exciting possibilities, not to mention speed of delivery. Today,
the digital tide is gaining momentum and we feel this is the most cost
effective way to present our new multimedia creation — Cloudstreet
Journal —to soaring enthusiasts around the world.
Cloudstreet Journal has been designed digitally from the ground up.
Colorful graphics, sharp photography, readable text, and special pages
enhanced with Flash animation and video. Would you rather read about
your grandson’s first solo landing, or show the world the same event
in color and sound?
All e-mail and web links in Cloudstreet Journal will be active.
Display advertisers can receive immediate queries from interested
customers, and individuals posting classified advertising can expect
replies from potential buyers. Navigation from page to page is simple
and straightforward.
Cloudstreet Journal is in reliable PDF format, and will be available
in 2 versions. The computer version will feature video and animation.
Adobe Acrobat Reader (available for free on Adobe’s site) is required
to view the content. The second version of Cloudstreet Journal is
available for the Apple iPad. This version does not have video or
animation (these items are Flash-based, and Flash will not function on
the iPad). Simply load this PDF on your desktop and transfer using the
Good Reader PDF application available through the iTunes App Store. A
full-featured version of Cloudstreet Journal is being developed for
the iPad with interactive pages, maps, and a host of other interactive
additions. The release of this new format will be announced at a later
time.
The release of the first issue will be January 2011, and we are
accepting articles, photos and prospective advertisers. Authors and
photographers are encouraged to send a e-mail to the address below and
request a copy of our Guidelines before submitting material.
Subscription rates are $48.00 per year for either computer PDF or iPad
PDF, or $58.00 for both PDF versions. If you would like to subscribe,
send an e-mail to , and our production office will
send a interactive PDF form for you to fill out. We will keep your
name on file and will bill you when the first issue is ready for
distribution. A Media Kit will soon be available for those wishing to
place display advertising.
A publication’s success relies on many things, but possibly the most
important component is good content and support from our readers.
Photograph scenes and events that you enjoy the most......write about
contests, personal stories, workshop projects, youth involvement and
safety issues. The sport of soaring is for everyone, therefore, the
content should be by everyone.
As we work on designs for Janury 2011, compose your article or sort
through you digital photos. We invite you to play an important role in
a publication available to all and enjoyed by all. We appreciate and
value your support.
