I saw a picture of a sailplane mounted on a pylon being used as a wind
indicator. At the time I didn't pay much attention but now I'm
interested and can't find the image. Does anybody have a lead for me
on where such an image is? Thanks.

There is a Monerai serving as a wind indicator at Stenbach North
airport in Manitoba Canada. Not sure of the exact lats and longs, but
you should be able to find it on Google Earth.

Please forgive the correction, but it's "Steinbach", rather than
"Steinbach".
Is the Monerai the ship that's at 49.5555N 96.6875W ? It's a bit
blurry to me.

Mike,
Do you have any further information about this wind indicator? I'm
interested in pictures taken from the ground so I could see details of
construction. Thanks.

The wings nubbed off and capped at about 3m or so. I once opened up
it's 'canopy' (an aluminum replacement of orig acrylic, mounted to
original frame) to have a looksie and the seatpan was full of concrete
for ballast and possibly damping. I believe it is mounted to a car
wheel/hub welded/bolted horizontally into the landing gear area which
allows it to swivel on it's 3-4' post, firmly planted in concrete.
This particular glider was a one-off homebuilt of dubious design/
construction which was not going to be allowed to fly, hence it's
relegation to being a fancy tetrahedron. It is nicknamed 'The Turkey'
I believe... sorry, no pics.
