Many thanks for that Kahuna.
I'll not re-send those that I am not seeing but will wait for my end to
hopefully catch up.

Thanks Stephen.
I have now managed to see them though what the problem was I don't know. At
least it seems to be working fine now.

Thank you RustY.
I'm not sure what the problem was but I had to reset the group before they
would appear for me.

Aww, they ain't too bad now, "ŽiŠardo. ;~) When I joined them back in 1998
the news servers were very flakey and prone to falling over. Since they
pensioned these off a few (5?) years ago to take a newsfeed from Giganews
I've had few probs with them. BT e-mail can be a bit temperamental once in
awhile and www is not always too fast but, and 10 yars ago I thought I'd
never say this, I'm quite content with the service I get from them.

Do you have probs with them ?

Thanks ŽiŠardo

I don't know what had gone wrong. I could see nine after about twenty
minutes but no more even with a reset. The following morning they still
wouldn't appear so after posing the question I tried re-setting the group
again and they all suddenly appeared.

Merci,

I'm unsure what had caused the problem but it appears to be alright now.

Hi Dingo,

Well, it was a case of moving house from a Virgin Media cable area, with
all the bells and whistles, to an area which hasn't even got round to
LLU, or whatever it is. Then there's the fact that, despite having
assured me that the broadband service would be up and running by
mid-April, it actually took three weeks longer. Unfortunately they
didn't bother to tell me at the time, and the last thing that their
help-lines do is actually put you in touch with someone who can help.

In essence it was a saga of incompetence punctuated by bursts of
ineptitude! Typical, though, of an ex-nationalised industry which seems
desperately keen to still think in monopoly terms and sod the customer -
I had exactly the same problem with British Gas when it came to service
and attitude!

The exchange is due to be upgraded within the next month or so and, now
that BT have been stopped doing their rip-off act with regard to early
cancellation charges - effective from October - I may well look elsewhere.

Hmm, seeing your posting I must revisit the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation
Museum. It was October 2007 when I last visited - most enjoyable.

Regards,

ŽiŠardo (in deepest Somerset)

I did have a spell when certain pictures did not get through on this and
also ABP Military because of the heading, e.g. Westland Wessex failed to
appear because of "sex" being involved.

I, and others have had the same problem with forteinc news. They posted
a notice on their site that the problem is resolved. But, the problem
continues.

Giganews seems to be having some problems, slow posting reports in other
groups today, also.

Thought it might have been my provider doing maintenance but no service
status notifications and they are usually very good.

Things work so well normally it comes as a little bit of a shock when they
don't.

First time for a very long time that its happened to me.

I suppose its rather amazing it works as well as it does, given the number
of updates to software and hardware that these companies carry out almost
every week.
