PENSACOLA, Fla. – A rookie Blue Angels pilot has been reinstated to

the Gulf of Mexico during a familiarization flight.

Lt. Ted Steelman, 32, of Star, Idaho, ejected safely on Dec. 1 before
his aircraft crashed off Perdido Key, a barrier island on the
Florida-Alabama border.

The Navy has not yet issued a report on the crash, but Stee...

Can't they state it correctly...The Navy flight demonstration squadron, not
jet aerobatic team or stunt flying team.....

I wasn't all that thrilled with "rookie" in reference to a 32-year old
Lieutenant who had the qualifications to make it into the Blues, either...

Not the best written article indeed. The last line is amusing,
apparently the jet is a total loss!

What I found interesting [just noticed it because Ed quoted that
portion] was that Phil Coleman's "Otis Willie" sock-puppet has
promoted itself, and retired itself.

[Damnfino what the HD part of the (HD, Ret.) is supposed to mean,
probably Honorable Discharge which is not something anyone in the
US military who has retired ever puts in that (Ret) parenthetical
anyway. But then, Phil has never really known squat about the
military anyway.]

I asked a retired (career) Army friend of mine what the HD could mean,
and his reply is as follows:

"The only thing I can surmise is HD in this context would
mean 'Honorable Discharge'."

Including 'HD' does seem borderline preposterous next to 'Ret.',
particularly for an officer.

Nothing Phil has ever done has been borderline preposterous, it
has all been totally, completely, outrageously preposterous.
Phil's motto has always been, if a scam isn't worth overdoing, it
is not worth doing at all.

[Don't tell your doggie friend he was agreeing with a Jarhead,
they might take away his retirement pay and send him to Iraq to
earn it all over again. ;->]

Ed,

Then they wouldn't be the press we have come to depend on and admire. ;-)
