I'm trying to adjust the sparkplug gap with a borrowed sparkplug vice.
How do you open the gap if you've made it too small? - Mike

very carefully place something under the shoulder of the electrode and
lever it up. half way on each side. I think I used the pointy end of a
can opener or maybe an awl or a mortising chisel. it was a while ago.
it needs to be something hardened and tempered. be careful not to
touch the centre post.
bugger of a job btw.

the next year I replaced all 8 plugs which has had the O-200 running
like a swiss watch ever since.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Three ten dollar bills work well
if you know how to use 'em.

I am assuming you are using massive electrode plugs.
If it is just a little too small leave it alone and it will get bigger
in a hundred hours. If it is a lot too small you are screwed so mark
this off to education expense. If you try to open it up by pushing
against the center electrode you may crack the ceramic and have an
intermittent miss fire that WILL be hard to find. Sometimes this can
be found with a high pressure spark plug tester some times not.
I like the screw on collar with the two wing screws for adjusting the
gap. For me this works better than the high priced champion unit.
