Yesterday at Urs's FLARM presentation at the PASCO seminar, he
demonstrated some of the the fallibility of the human eye/visual
recognition system with a few videos, which were really ....eye
opening. Hopefully a recorded (and edited, since it almost spiraled
into a ras debate a few times...) video is posted soon since it has so
many answers people are craving and is an illuminating presentation,
focusing on how this system addresses and helps augment these built in
limitations of our physiology.
Among several other vids was this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJG698U2Mvo
-note: let it buffer all the way first, without letting it run, then
watch it full screen and really count!
I had just saved some links of optical illusions that to varying
degrees demonstrate some of the limitations of the eye, which is not
as reliable as I once thought...
