The late, great Sammy Mason (Stalls, Spins, and Safety), who was the
first pilot to perform aerobatics (loops, rolls, 1/2 cubans,
immelmanns) in a rigid rotor 286 helicopter built by Lockheed. His
first public demonstration occurred during a meeting of The Helicopter
Association of America in Palm Springs, then at the Paris Air Show in
1967.
