Anyone have experience exporting a glider (especially to Argentina) and
getting one of these? Was it difficult to deal with the FAA?

I sent a request per AC 8050-124E, and waited for the response,
AFS-750-FAX-1. It took a month.

I sent a Puchacz to Brazil and got an airworthiness for export from a
DAR who charged me $750 bucks. The FAA may do it free if they can fit
you into their schedule, check with them. I also sent a ASH-26 to
Australia without one, the new owner indicated he would have it taken
care of over there. The inspection basically certifies the ship is in
compliance with its type certificate and that all ad's are complied
with. You do need to dr-regester it in the US, so that it can be re-
regestered in Argentina.
Hope this helps,
JJ
