Why would an examiner ask a sport pilot about night operations if the pilot
hasn't been trained in them?
How did you determine they were the same checkride?

Just asking
Are you required to have time up night flying to do a PPL in the US ?

With the exception of those receiving flight training in Alaska, yes.
Even for those in Alaska, a private pilot certificate could be issued with
a limitation that night flying is prohibited - and the person would be
required to get night training within 12 months or the certificate would
become invalid. The rationale appears to be that training during the summer
at high latitudes yields insufficient night hours.

Thanks for that.
Our Regs allowed us to go no more than 10 nm aay from the Airfield so
although I did a few hours night circuits I wasn't interested...

I didn't say the oral was the same. Only the
checkride.
> How did you determine they were the same checkride?
As per a Senior CFI, former commercial jet pilot
that I fly with that currently trains dozens of folks,
works 7 days a week in aviation and in a 141
school and with the FAA.
Hope this helps when deciding what level of
piloting expertise you should expect when choosing
your training.

I've swapped posts with you on NUMEROUS
occasions, and discussed MULTIPLE topics in
which we've ALWAYS disagreed, and yet...funny
thing...can you list even one point in which you
were right and I wasn't?
I've even offered to have an independent fiduciary
party hold 10 thousand dollars from each of us,
winner take all to the correct answer. You weren't
able to pass muster.
In the final analysis, you only trolled.

Eisonhower's was the last administration in which one could accurately use
the phrase "all 48 states."

He's probably putting you under the hood and having you do maneuvers by
reference to instruments. The Sport Pilot PTS does not require such.
You could also simply go to the FAA web site and download the two PTS
documents and compare them:

Ok, thanks. I'm more than happy to stand
corrected if need be. There are a few things that
concern me about flight instruction. One is...paying
for unnecessary time, and the other is, the liability
which I have for someone else's plane simply because
I'm responsible for checking the maintenance records.
Sure, I can see when 100 hr. services are done, or
read about repairs, but that's a lot different from owning
your own plane and actually overseeing first hand who
and how it was done.

Guess you're uninformed. People who rent
planes fly from the left seat. People who take
flight instruction are always also seated in the
left seat. Your comment is telling.

Yes that's right. The voice in my head is my
own voice as I construct logic and replay with
lucidity my nearly photographic memory. The
other voices are the replies within the context
of these exchanges. And...sometimes I play
multiple parts as I muse the likely responses which
will result from anticipated future conversations.
I haven't heard a peep from God or Satan. LOL.

Understandable but on closer inspection not worth worrying about. Aviating
is expensive and a few extra hours really don't matter.

That is what renter's insurance is for. Shouldn't cost most than a few
hundred a year.

time up night flying for a PPL. 50-2 = ;0)

Agreed. My instructors reason with me that I'm going
to want to know these other things anyway (they're
right) so I'm pretty much going with the flow. You have
to trust them, or find someone whom you can.

I imagine from the perspective of an outside
observer, they would see you making these
claims...knowing that of course your claims are
both fabricated and obviously impossible to
substantiate...and they would say to themselves,
"this hierophant fellow seems to be another one
of those internet goofballs that quacks out his
ass".
That would be the first conclusion.
By the way, sometimes I don't fly from the
left seat. I fly from the "front" seat. There are
however, actually pilots that fly alone...from the
right seat due to personal preference.
You sure do talk a lot about psychotropic
drugs. I'm just sayin'. Makes us wonder.

I didn't say "time in an aircraft". I said "instruction".
The real gravy for CFIs is GROUND SCHOOL. No
fuel expenditure, no wear and tear on the plane, no
risk. Yesterday while out of town, I stopped into an
FBO and saw a former instructor of mine at his hanger
with a young student. He had the kid washing his plane.
Poor kid was probably paying by the hour to do it too.

That's not enough money Mr. Rich man. I'm just
a poor student, but why don't we up the ante.
You seem to know all about me. You say I don't
have a dime to spend. Poor, poor me. Shall we
find a reputable legal firm to establish this little
escrow account? I will transfer $100,000.00
today. Will you match me?

Stop being childish and act like a man.
Stand behind your words or admit that
you're just another internet goofball.
Now, talk about piloting. If you can.
Also, I have attorneys standing by to complete
our arrangement of truth validation. This could
be your lucky day.

Someone that really had $100,000 laying around and attorneys (note plural)
on standby for betting purposes wouldn't be whinning about the cost of
flight instruction.

It happens.
I enjoyed the 'poor pilot' claim whereupon he later claims to have
$100,000 to throw around.
I doubt he actually read what he writes
