Thanks Morgan,
I'll be sure to take you up on your offer; it will help in the process
for sure.
Looking back on it, I should have flown Avenal a different day, as not
all the ships where there on Wednesday. I saw a Genesis showed up,
and would really like to see one in person.
The hand brake is going to be a ‘must’. I know people in my situation
fly with just the dive brake operated wheel brake, but it just makes
sense to me to put it on the stick. The dive brakes get modified so
they have selectable settings – so I just set the position I need
(actually a little less than I need) and slip to fine tune.
I could go either way regarding being experimental. It might make it
easier to get the hand control in; however, it would be nice to be
able to lease it back to the soaring academy so other disabled pilots
would have a decent single seat to fly around (we are working on
getting a ‘wounded warriors’ type program set up, so we may have a few
pilots in need of hand controls).
Another issue I will have is, I won't be able to fly before I buy
(unless they have it set up for hand controls for some reason)...
I'll be able to have someone I trust check it out for me – and I’ll
have to rely on what they describe it as.
Thanks again
- Kevin
