Region 12 Regional Meet

Practice: 8/27/2011 Saturday
Contest: 8/28/2011 – 9/2/2011 Sunday to Friday

Classes: 15 Meter, Open, Sports, Club

Please join us for a top notch contest coming up at the end of the
summer.

Inyokern is legendary as the shortest onramp to the Sierra and White
mountain freeways. Expect fun fast flying for new contest pilots on
the regular routes from Tehachapi to Bishop. World class conditions
will challenge the expert pilots. The far north task area includes
Tonopah, Hilton Ranch, and Bishop with some of the strongest thermal
conditions in the West. The south task area will reward pilots with
flying the Mojave Desert and El Mirage shear lines.

Here is an annotated map laying out the task area:

The red highlighted restricted areas are the ones pilots will most
likely need to circumnavigate. Steering turnpoints will allow tasking
around the China Lake (R2505) restricted area immediately east of the
contest site. The blue area (R2506) is rarely if ever used. Flying
into the south task area either requires that the Edwards AFB
restricted area R2515 (green) be opened, or that the weather
conditions permit flanking R2515 via Rosamond Int (TP 76). As a
retired NWS meteorologist and local contest pilot, your CD, Walt
Rogers, will have a pretty good handle on when these conditions will
work.

Thanks to John Leibacher for publishing the full database at the

I was hoping that I would hear from you JJ! You and Pat are ALWAYS
welcome additions and having you re-christen Inyokern would be exactly
what we need. Besides, the group out there really needs your
expertise, wisdom and advice. Aint' it awful, when you get to an age
where people WANT your wisdom? I hope I see you two out there, as
always, I look forward to seeing Pat's bright smiles!
