We have set a Date for the Crystal Derby (formerly Crystal Dash).
The event will be on Sunday, July 24th. (Safety/Pilots Meeting @
9:00AM) The course will be open after the meeting, and we will fly
till we can't stay up (or the sun goes down).
The Southern California Soaring Academy will have tows availible as
well as 'guides' and 'rides' around the course in their 2 place
ships. The guide option is good for new pilots who might be
interested in contest flying, but don't want to commit to a multiday
event - the pilot will fly the whole course getting instruction, and
tactical advise from a CFI-G. The ride option is good for people who
don't have much or any flight time - they will go around the course
with a CFI-G in control (a good way to show someone who might be
interested in the sport what racing is about, or you can send your
normal 'crew' around the course, so they get a chance to see what it's
like...)
We will be having a BBQ in the afternoon/evening so there will be time
to chat about the day (brag or explain about times...)
Contact me if you would like to come so we can plan for the BBQ and
know how many tow planes we should have going. Also, let me know if
you (or someone you know) would like to book a guide or ride around
the course - i'm sure they will book up quick.
