In reality, the 6 props and 4 jets were just so that the engineers onboard could
say "6 turnin' and 4 burnin"
The jets also helped with increasing the fuel consumption, the exhaust smoke
output and overall coolness.
No other reason for it apparently........ :)

Seriously, the jet engines helped with both extra speed, loadout and altitude
capabilities.
