Hi,

The 2012 Soaring Photo Calendars are arriving.
http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/calendars.htm

The SSA Calendars arrived today.

The Claus-Dieter Zink calendars are on the way and should arrive any day.

The Segelflug Bildkalenders should be shipping from Germany soon.

Nice looking shots for 2012! I see you are showing monthly photos for
some of the calendars. Why not for the 2012 SSA Soaring Calendar?

Hi Bob,

Good question. The other calendar vendors provided photos for most months
when asked. When I asked the SSA for more images this year they said they
weren't sure that all the photographers that donated images would want them
used for "commercial purposes". I found that a bit odd. They have never
provided monthly images in past years either.

Paul,
I don't find the position the SSA is taking odd at all. Giving the
copyright for publication of a photo to the SSA is one thing, seeing
it used in other ways - potentially for commercial purposes - is quite
another. The SSA is protecting the potential interests of the photo-
donors (now there's an odd word). A compromise might be found in
having the donors agree that their photos are being offered for
download in a low-resolution format.

Hi Herb,

Good point. I guess I was just thinking of using the photos to promote the
calendar. But I suppose that if they were put on the web site in
high-resolution then anyone could use them for any purpose without the
photographer's approval. It was my intension to use them only in low
resolution - to hint at how the calendar looks. It is always a very good
calendar, but we would all probably sell more of them if customers could see
small images of the photos used for every month. Customers like to know
what they are buying. The other soaring customers do supply images of most
or all of the months.

Best Regards,
