Found this PNA on the K6 website. Nice specs and price, especially
for those of us who already have a paid-for copy of SeeYouMobile on
our PDAs and don't really want to pay for it again when moving up to
an Oudie...

Anybody have any experience with it? Seems almost identical to the
Oudie, except for greater screen resolution.

Curious about whether is is any better (or worse) in sunlight...

I'm using a WayteQ x950HD, running XCSoar.

Having looked at it alongside an Oudie you'd be hard pushed to tell the
difference if the labels were covered. Sunlight readbility is pretty much
the same.

Needs 3.3v applied to pin4 of the USB mini-b connector for the USB port to
work as a traditional serial port, and needs an RS232 to TTL converter to
convert the levels.

My biggest problem here in the UK was locating a USB lead with all 5pins
conected to feed the 3.3v signal to pin 4.

Software wise, if you want to run the WayteQ in "Portrait" rather than
"Ladscape" mode then you'll need to update the screen driver & use a screen
rotation utility.

If you're happy with a soldering iron then it makes a considerable saving
over an Oudie.

Lots of background info can be found on the XCSoar & LK8000 forums.

Regards

Kevin

XCSoar doesn't need the utility - this feature is built-in. You only
need a display driver that allows rotating the screen (i.e. a driver
update may still be needed if the stock driver can't do it).

Did anybody managed to update the screen driver?
I would like to use it in portrait mode and so far I wasn't able to rotate it.
thank you

I downloaded the Driver from...
http://kpr3712.npage.de/downloads_89312177.html

The instructions in the "ReadMe" file say to copy the Driver to the SD
card, but I copied it to \ResidentFlash\init and installed from there.

I used the screen rotation utility from...
http://www.jostjahn.de/pna/ScreenRotate.zip

Which seemed to work on my WayteQ

Hope this helps
