Check it out these GREAT letters to the editor in support of our airport!:

Thanks to all who wrote letters of support for the Iowa City Airport! As
you can see, we had three letters supporting the airport published today --
ALL of them from folks who frequent this newsgroup!

Special thanks go to Tim, Brian, and Richard -- and I know there were others
(Margy Natalie, for one) who have written letters that have not been
published -- yet! It is THIS kind of public support that will hush the
critics and keep our airports open!

Great job, folks!

Where did I read that rarely if ever is an airport closed that has a viable FBO.

Sounds like that leaves you and me both vulnerable.

Can we rent that big hanger to a small manufacturer for now?

I don't know where you read that, but it hardly seems true. I've seen a number
of airports with viable FBO's and other thriving businesses closed. CGX is perhaps
the most recent. Even viable FBO's can't compete with other uses for the amount
of acreage that the average small airport requires.
