It's amazing what you can find if you put the registration into Google!

It's a Focke-Wulf Fw 44J Stieglitz (Goldfinch). Registered as G-STIG,
but nothing to do with Top Gear. It was part of the Shuttleworth
Collection, but according to the G-INFO database it's now in the USA.

Thanks for that useful bit of information Peter. Can't help but feel if I
knew what the registration was, I'd have done that. But alas, all I could
see was D-2692 and that returned no results. Nor did the Shuttleworth
collection website have it listed. I'll go direct to you in future to get
the information I don't have ;-)

Thanks anyway to yourself and the others that have supplied the correct
answer for me. Don't want to appear as though I am ungrateful :-)

It is much appreciated.

I had some friends in California who restored one in Swedish colors.

That's odd, because Google.uk comes up with lots of hits, starting with
Airliners.net and Air Britain. Perhaps the Antipodean version works in
the opposite direction?

Anyway, here are some photos of her at Old Warden on 5 August 2007. The
picture you posted looks like it was taken there too.

Did anyone spot the deliberate mistake? Absolute Tripe. That's what
comes of doing things in a hurry and not checking filenames and images
properly.

Try these instead.

Well, I have to agree. I re did it tonight and yes, I have a lot of hits as
well.
Maybe someone turned the internet off last night ;-)

I dunno, I'm at a loss. Gonna bury my head in the sand now :-)

Glenn, Here's the extract from the UK Aircraft registration site:

Mark:G-STIG Current Reg. Date:29/11/2006 De-Reg. Date:22/04/2010
Previous ID:OO-JKT
Status:De-registered To:UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Reason:Transferred to another country or authority

I notice that both you and I visited The Shuttleworth Collection in 2008
- 19 June in my case.

Bearing in mind your comments I put "Aircraft D-2692" into the search
facility and one of many hits was this:
