View Full Version : flying to your initials airport

Has anyone made it a point to fly to the airport that shares its
identifier with your initials? I was thinking it would be neat to find
LAS and do a XC there, but then I realized I have already been there :

I haven't found my initials airport, nor DH's much less flown there.

However, I12 (Sidney, OH) is close to ROD VOR. Oh, yeah, we
had to stop there.

Turns out it's a nice, quiet airport, usually good fuel
prices, a courtesy car to drive into town for a meal and
an active pilot's assoc. which held cookouts at the airport.
We used to like it as a fuel stop when we were flying s. of
the lake on the way to Niagara Falls (or back)

Cheers,
Sydney

There isn't one.

They say that nothing's certain except death and taxes. The thing is,
death doesn't get worse every time Congress goes into session.

By my count, only 13% of the three-letter combinations are covered.

No airport for me either, but perhaps I could fly over the BRADZ
intersection...

I guess those of us that have no middle name or initial are screwed.

You'll have to fly to an NDB and hold.

If you were in the military, you would have discovered that you had 3
"middle initials." You are Givens, Maurice NMI. NMI= no middle initial.

That's easy.

CHP is a gravel strip up somewhere around Fairbanks AK.

It's also a VOR in Argentina, "San Martin de Los Andes".

Great idea! I get a little strip in Ohio, and Stella, Missouri! Both
reasonable destinations...though any place with pancakes on a Sunday morning is
just fine with me.
