Sand-coloured doubtless because it was flying from a ship of the desert.

Less obscurely, it belonged to a land-based RN unit in North Africa - one
squadron of Martlets and two of Hurricanes.

Still looks better than the olive drab Spifire...

Agreed,
That photo was proof that olive drab can make even the prettiest aircraft
love kinda crappy.
