View Full Version : 21 Jan Glider Safety Webinar

Roy Clark, \B6\
January 21st 12, 09:01 PM
Although the were some initial audio problems - weather related to the
snowstorm in the NE US,
attendees learned or reviewed some information that could save their
life:

1. The main cause of landing accidents - at the airfield or off-field.
2. Review of the six signs of a stall - in the order they will occur.
3. Safe recovery from a stall in any flight situation.
4. Safe and not-safe landing patterns.
5. How to know when TLAR - that looks about right.
6. The safe (and only legal in the USA) setting of the altimeter.
7. How to safely land any glider, anywhere, without needing to use an
altimeter.

The 28 Jan Webinar will include more on safely landing away from an
airport.

I am not a CFIG, but appreciate that Tom will mention how these skills
are taught at
Ridge Soaring Gliderport.

Thank you Roy,

The 3rd and final Glider Safety Webinar will be Saturday, January 28.
It will concentrate on off field landings. One of the don't-miss
subjects will be a review of important safety suggestions and ideas
presented in the preceeding webinars, something realitively new about
being prepared for eventualities, and a practical feature about
thermals and thermalling.

To sign up for the next webinar, go to our web site: www.eglider.org
