The Ministry of Housing and Local Government has installed another 496 security cameras in hotspot areas throughout the country to curb crime.
The security cameras, installed at a cost of RM11.8 million, were part of the government initiative to fight crime through 24-hour monitoring of the hotspots.
The cameras,fpv video (http://www.securitycamera2000.com/FPV/fpvvideo.html), set up in 25 local authorities with links to 28 Police Headquarters in April, represented the first phase of the project by the Federal Government through the Local Government Department.

Phase two would involve putting security cameras in other local authorities throughout the country including Sabah and Sarawak beginning the end of the year and was expected to be completed by November next year.
