Over the Memorial Day weekend the Seattle Glider Council hosted the
Dust-Up in Ephrata. This years Dust-Up was run again by Noel Wade and
Kevin Finke. The objective this year was a badge and XC encampment.
Several clubs in R8 attended as well as the normal folks that fly out
of Ephrata. I had not flown in Ephrata for almost 10 years, but
wanting to see how my Tetra-15 would do in strong conditions I could
not resist.
To somewhat quote the stats:
There were over 40 sailplanes there. There were more than 120 tows.
There was 1 landout in the dirt and only a few others at airports and
were aero-retrieved.
There we NO accidents and NO incidents; every morning there was a
pilot briefing and we were constantly being reminded to be vigilant
and safe.
Everyone had a good time. Ephrata was actually mentioned on the OLC
for some fast flights and moved into #1 for region 8.
It was a great success......................oh, and the homebuilt
Tetra-15 did just fine.
