The auto squelch on our Dittel FSG50 crapped out yesterday. It is otherwise a good radio so I would like to have it repaired if possible. Does anyone know of a shop in the U.S. that works on these?
If it is not repairable, do the newer Dittels fit in the same mounting rack?

the only shop I know that does all repairs to these older Walter Dittel
radios is
ANTON-LANG FLUGFUNK-SERVICE
Pappelweg 26
D-86972 Schwabniederhofen
Germany
Tel 49 8861 1739 Fax 49 8861 1590
and even they may only have a small amount of repair parts for these now.
The FSG50/FSG60 did use a mounting tray and totally different connector
types from all later Walter Dittel radios so there is no tray used with
later radios that also all fit in 57mm instrument openings. Easiest way to
replace this radio is with an instrument hole reducer place or a simply
cover with a 57mm hole that will allow nearly any of the newer radios to be
mounted. you will of course have to also change the wiring and connector
types for all other radios but this can still keep most of your existing
wiring in place if you use a simple terminal trip at the panel and properly
connect the new radios cables to your existing wiring. I have all types of
radios here and may even have a good used FSG50 here I can offer if you call
me (716)763 3213

Last year I used Peninsula Avionics to repair my FSG50. They were reasonably priced, quick turn around and good follow through.

Ive also used Peninsula for parts for an older Dittle (71 Series). Great service and reasonably priced.

Karl. I had a squelch problem on my FSG71M. Turned out to be a bad relay.
Even the FSG71M is becoming so old that Anton Lang Flugfunk does not have certain spare parts anymore.
You can read detail on my webpage:

Maybe something that applies to your situation too.
