John Ousterhout has graciously added a video of my first flight to

OBTW: The 'clatter' is the electric fuel pump. Or my
heart. I don't remember.

You deserve an award for getting your short final call in despite all that
traffic on the freq; you were in the weeds, son!

Congratulations on a fine first flight.

If you think that freq was congested you have not been many places, son!

At that point in time, at that particularly demanding phase of flight, he
couldn't get a word in 'till the last second.

I've been places, dad.

Really, it wasn't that bad. I had already made a
'normal' call turning base-to-final. I made a
short final call because I thought I heard someone
else call final for the same field. Freq. congestion
wasn't an issue - believe me, it gets a lot worse out
there.

Yeah, I know, and I still shudder when I think about
some of your stories. <g>

As long as I keep sending checks to Flightcrafters, it keeps getting closer
to getting completed. :)

I understand. Having watched the vid a few more times I realize now that
virtually all of the radio traffic was folks "way out yonder" and they
weren't a factor in whether or not you could make a call. For some reason,
though, I really, *really* felt like you were itching to make a call further
out and - this is what's funny - *I* got nervous that it was taking so long.
I guess you paid me back a little for making your stomach flip at P-ville.
