View Full Version : GP:Live WGC 2012 Uvalde edition update
Those of you that are using GP:Live to follow the WGC Uvalde — the rest day yesterday allowed me to add the timeline feature. Click on the timeline on the bottom to see who was where when, and drag to animate progress during the day.

Our servers are getting tremendous number of hits, but are still holding up..
(SPOT servers where the track updates come from do occasionally slow down, nothing we can do about that.)

Fantastic online app with a really nice easy to use and clean UI. Can't wait to see what you do with this in future.
It would be great to be able to see flight traces as well as the just-implemented time slider.

Ignore that last comment, I refreshed the web page and the flight trace lines appeared.

I've compared the 3 tracking sites and the one Frank Whiteley and
Pedja posted has the fasted refresh. The one's on the WGC website have
either fewer gliders covered, or have some pilots lagging way behind
when in fact they're neck-and-neck. Just based on those that are out
on course now, today, the weather guys and task-masters got it right.
As predicted, a front from the north is meeting the sea-breeze from
the south (remnants of the gulf downgraded-hurricaine most likely).
This pinched the task area to about half the size as last week. We'll
see, but seems like a good call so far.

Gust front is starting to form; looks like
it will hit Uvalde around 5:45

The front from the north (over my house) was slowed by the gulf
spawned front. In Open Class; Dick Butler made it home already, at
least according to Spot tracking. One track has Tabery landing at
Uvalde, the other has him out on course 40miles away. In 18m; Gary
Ittner landed home, Bill Elliott still out. In 15m John Seaborn was
near the head of the pack when he got back. What a comeback he has
made since having a no-start one day. Dave Leonard is just a few miles
from the finish. Good job by all.
By the way, a rep from the SSA said she expects that the WGC will try
to have more frequent updates starting tonight/tomorrow.

scores being posted every few minutes at http://soaringspot.com/wgc20112/results/
Each class will have a devalued day unless the winner stays on course for 3 hours or more. Not likely today

WE has been scored so he must've made it back. Glad to hear that DB & SS made it, they weren't on Ritz's list on SoaringCafe and the liveatc.net feed was down (perfect timing!). Looks like the gust front has passed Uvalde now, good time to already be on the ground.

Where are the daily scores now? My previous link no longer works.
