At first I thought "HVARs on an RAF aircraft? Never heard of that
before!" A little research has revealed one photo showing what does
appear to be an HVAR rack on a Liberator though. Most of the references
I've found only talk about RPs, which I though referred to the British
3" weapon, but I could be wrong. Mentions of a Type C rocket pack don't
clarify what type of rocket.
Some online sites say the Liberator had rocket rails under the wings,
but I think that's incorrect. As far as I can tell, they were mounted
either on the fuselage sides (as in the photo) or as retractable units
in the bomb bay.
FL297/G was actually a Liberator III, although some sites say wrongly a
Mark V, or even a Mark VI.
